FINNLINES | TORO Y BETOLAZA | A new boost to their connections in Bilbao

June 2022 | PUERTO DE BILBAO NEWS 97

Responding to the growing demand of clients, Finnlines is boosting its maritime connections in Europe and, consequently, in Bilbao.

The Company’s new hybrid ro-ro Eco-class ships will be used to reinforce their services.
"Finneco I" has begun on the Bilbao–Zeebrugge/Antwerp–Travemünde–Helsinki/Kotka–Paldiski route. The inaugural port of call in Antwerp was on June 16th, and it is expected to arrive in Bilbao next July 4th. The "Finneco II" will come into service on week 28, and "Finneco III" on week 29.

A LEAP FORWARD IN HYBRID TECHNOLOGY:

The three ships are equipped with Wärtsilä’s hybrid energy conversion system and can also be partially operated with 5MW rechargeable lithium-ion batteries during navigation, which combined with 600m2 of solar panels, drastically reduces fuel consumption and achieves zero emissions during stopovers.

These three Eco-class hybrid ships have a capacity for transporting 5,800 linear metres, and in Bilbao, they accept conventional cargo, container cargo, non-accompanied trailers, goods on "roll trailer", oversize goods, IMO and special transport up to 250 tons, as well as cargo up to 7 metres high.

Finnlines is represented by Toro y Betolaza.
