BORDER CONTROLS: CITES | CHANGES

Bilbao I December 2021

 

As of January 2nd, 2022, the functions corresponding to the CITES administrative authority, which up to now were the responsibility of the Sub Directorate General of Inspection, Certification and Technical Assistance for Foreign Trade, are now the responsibility of the Sub Directorate General of Land and Sea Biodiversity, reporting to the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic challenges. 

As established in Royal Decree 986/2021, published last December 10th, which appoints the new Spanish authorities regarding the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
