We are a business group dedicated to the production, distribution and commercialisation of energy. Our name is the result of the merger in 1992 of Iberduero and Hidroeléctrica Española (Hidrola), two private electricity companies which, in turn, were the result of previous mergers.

Iberdrola is one of the largest electricity companies in the world. It is Spain's leading energy group in terms of market capitalisation and the fourth most valuable electricity company in the world, and is also a world leader in the wind energy sector. It supplies energy to close to 100 million people in several countries and carries out its renewables, networks and commercial activities in Europe (Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Greece), the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Australia, with markets such as Japan, Ireland, Sweden and Poland, among others, as growth platforms.

It has a workforce of 40,000 people and assets of more than €134 billion. In 2020 it had revenues of over €33 billion and a net profit of €361 million, with annual purchases from suppliers of €14 billion.

In 2015, it committed to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 and at the end of 2017 announced its intention to close all its coal-fired power plants worldwide. In 2021, it was among the 10 companies that emitted the most tonnes in Spain with 2.4 Mt.

With 80% emission-free production at the end of the first nine months of 2021, Iberdrola has committed to be carbon neutral by 2030 in Europe, where its emissions are already around 50g/kWh in October 2021, and to reduce its global CO2 emissions intensity to 50g/kWh - it would be 70g/kWh by the end of 2025 - until it is carbon neutral globally by 2050. The company has also set a target to reduce absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Scopes 1, 2 and 3, a commitment that has been approved by the Science Based Target initiative and is aligned with the Paris Agreement.
